Another 3 points take Timsbury U15’s up to second

Timsbury travelled to Shepton Mallet Colts U15’s for a potentially tricky game.

On a heavy pitch Timsbury choose to play up the slope in the first half. Whilst dominating the earlier part of the half Timsbury found themselves conceding a goal from a quick break by Shepton. Their right winger outpacing the Timsbury defence to rifle a shot past Zach Cutting. Despite this set back Timsbury pressed and were awarded with an equaliser from a determined Dan Redwood who is keeping up his goal a game. Once level, Timsbury upped the tempo and scored again through Matt Spencer. Just before half time Timsbury were awarded a free kick 25 yards out. Sebastian Nix lined up what appeared to be a powerful shot only to execute deft chip at the last second to an unmarked run by Captain Ellis Hancock who controlled the ball on his left foot before sliding the ball home with his unfavoured right boot.

With the slope in favour of Timsbury the second half was more controlled with the defence of Ryan Strother, Aaron Pritchard, Tom House and Brad Tyler controlling any attacks that came from Shepton. Jake Robertson as usual was cleaning up any danger in the holding midfield role in which he continues to grow in stature. As the half wore on gaps appeared and Sam Hibbert scored to secure the game, his first goal for months which he celebrated in style with Ciaran O’Shea. Just before the end of the game a slick move culminated with a shot from Jake Robertson to finish the game 5 – 1.

Man of the match was Jake Robertson and this result takes the team up to second place in the league, six points behind the leaders but with two games in hand.

Next game is on 21st Feb against Westfield.
